Meet the Board: Jesse Fischbein

Our newest Blog series we will be focusing on our hard working NJPEC Board Members. Each of these members volunteers their time to help keep this organization going. Our hope in this series is that you’ll learn a little more about who they are!

Jesse Fischbein, Our President

How long have you been active on the NJPEC Board: 8 years: 3 years as Dinner Chair, 4 years at Treasurer and 1 year as President

Where do you work and what is your role there? VP Finance for Just Pacakging, Inc.

What is your favorite NJPEC Event & Why? Mentoring Event – There is a wonderful discussion held between seasoned industry professionals and college students at this event.  We have a panel of mentors—all from various industries and job roles, but have a core of packaging built into their careers.  We have a host that engages those mentors with questions about their education, career choice, and what excites them about packaging in general.  And lastly are the professionals as NJPEC members sitting as guests with students from universities that are majoring in packaging related fields.  The discussion and interaction between these groups have proven to be moments of epiphany, and sometime career choice for these students—and to tie out the event, we raffle one-on-one sit downs with these mentors with the students.  As proven by previous Mentoring events, some of the sit-downs have culminated into internships, which then turned into full time job offers, as evidenced by our youngest NJPEC members and the stories they’ve shared with our NJPEC Board.

What is your favorite part of being in the packaging industry? When I walk into a store and I peruse the aisle and spot a product that I know for certain that the hands of my employees built—it’s a sense of pride I cannot describe, aside from the fact that the product looks as immaculate as our customer described it should look like.  I often find myself taking photos in stores and sending pictures of our customers goods to them, showing them that the components your left in our hands has turned into the nicest product in the aisle.  I sleep better knowing that my team couldn’t have assembled a better product for our customers.

Tell us something about yourself that no one knows? I am a big fan of classic rock and play the piano. I have an ability to hear a song and teach myself to play it without sheet music
